"The story of the man who was waiting for his family ended like this.. I met by luck a french general Army in the hotel lobby. Later I found out that even though he was dressed in civil he was coming to inspect the evacuation crisis cell and to report directly to the minister Douste Blazy. He heard my story and took me directly to the military boat in Larnaca close to where we met. He called the commandant of the corvette military board and asked him to take me with him.
At 20h I came back I was ready with my back pack I got on the boat. I heard very alarming news, the bombs were hiting GSM mobile phone antenas. Since we leaved very close to one my wife run away and went to the port without telling me . By luck an english boat was there . The captain agreed to take her on board after a very very long time of hesitation. I was in a very weard situation, I was on a boat and my wife also somebody had to go down otherwise we would be again separated but this time the other way round..so stupid.. Finally when the captain agreed I went out with hundred apologies in extremis from the french boat. I had to take a taxi go to Limasol where I waited all night for them to arrive. At 7 in the morning after 5 hours of delay, i saw in between refugees first my son Gio who saw me also from the window of the bus that was downloading them by batches from the boat. He went crazy and was kicking the window with his legs hysterically! I Eventualy saw my my wife and daughter who seemed destroyed. I came for something precious i got it nothing would matter any more not even the stupid smile of the taxi driver who obviously was going to screw us again with so much understanding with what is hapening to us. We spent few days more in the hotel in the attempt to change their minds but it was not easy. I was always swiming with my back against the hotel and them in front of me, in that way they were concentrating on me and not on the sea front were large military boats were cummulating in a very threatening attitude. Saturday evening we went to Prague with a strange feeling in our heart and mind.
My father had the same experience with us it was 25 years ago.
Voila my sister from Israel, that is the end of my story. I met special persons in my adventure, this general was one and you are another one.
Natasha, you scared me a bit at the begining, you look more like a james bond girl than a journalist. This was especialy true when the french guard at the embassy checked your back pack and his detector started to play mozart in re mineur. That's it, my sister in arms, life goes on".
